Baby blue Sawara Cypress. Is it dead?

I planted this baby blue Sawara Cypress last summer. Is it dead? Is there any way to revive it?

The very brown needles are dead. The gray green needles still may have life to them. Do not rip it out until June just in case. One thing you can do is prune out the dead stuff. This may leave your shrub looking funny for a couple of years, but it will grow back. If having a uneven looking shrub on your property will bother you then I would recommend buying a new one. I would also recommend doing a soil test prior to planting to see if the soil is lacking nutrients. Good luck!
